Being a Regular Mom in Pinterest Mom World…

I am sure that if you are like me your Pinterest account is loaded down with boards on being a better parent. I have boards dedicated to better eating, how to raise girls, how to be a godly wife, things to read later (even though I know it’s not happening)… I have a board dedicated to cute little meal ideas that make sandwiches look like dinosaurs… Seriously…

We live in a day of “everything you can do I can do better.” Better yet, ladies we know it is true, we live in a “everything you can do I have to do better or I am going to mom-shame myself” day and age.

In the Bible, we learn about two women. Mary and Martha were sisters. One day they had Jesus over at their house. While Martha was running around trying to make sure everything was perfect and worthy of company, Mary was sitting at the feet of Jesus. Of course Martha got mad and asked Jesus about Mary’s actions…

“But Martha was distracted by her many tasks, and she came up and asked, “Lord, don’t You care that my sister has left me to serve alone? So tell her to give me a hand.” The Lord answered her, “Martha, Martha, you are worried and upset about many things, but one thing is necessary. Mary has made the right choice, and it will not be taken away from her.””

Jesus wanted Martha to slow down and spend time with Him. I will admit we as Christians have made this sound cliche. However, the truth is still there. God wants us to spend time with Him! If we are so busy trying to be super Pinterest mom that we cannot spend time with God, we are too busy!! If we are mom-shaming ourselves to the point that we are running ourselves ragged trying to keep up with other mommies, we are trying too hard!

Please stop mom-shaming. We do not know the whole story behind every action, and we should be more supportive than critical of each other.

Slow down!!! Do our kids need activities for every day? Do our kids have to have cute dinosaur sandwiches for their lunch? Do we have to stress ourselves out over brand names and immaculate houses?

When was the last time we stressed over whether or not our children could see Christ in us? Taking our children to church is awesome, do not misunderstand. The greatest amount of God they will see is when they look at who you are outside of church.

Ladies, be a God mom!! Be a mom who is more concerned with your child’s relationship with God than their popularity. Be the best mommy you can be. The best mommy you can be is the mom who brings their child up in the nuture and admonition of the Lord!

God bless! Brittiny
